HubSpot Consultant: a thinking partner, not just a pair of hands

You’re looking for a HubSpot consultant who understands your situation and turns it into a concrete recommendation, not a generic best-practice presentation. I’m Lorenz Ritter von Stein, a HubSpot freelancer and consultant for B2B companies. I work as a strategic partner and as a hands-on implementer, depending on what you need. The person who advises you is the same person who does the implementation.

What a HubSpot setup looks like when it’s done right.

  • Meaningful, fully automated reporting. With numbers you can trust.
  • Leads are cleanly attributed to the right marketing campaign.
  • Sales knows the marketing message. Marketing gets feedback on lead quality.
  • Recurring customer questions don’t have to be answered from scratch every time.
  • Complete clarity in your sales pipeline.

What a HubSpot consultant does

A HubSpot CRM consultant analyzes how your company works with its CRM today, or how it wants to, and turns that into a concrete recommendation. That can mean:

The difference between advising and implementing

Some companies need someone who designs the approach and makes the calls. Others need someone who can also implement it directly. I can do both.

When you need a HubSpot consultant

There are situations where an outside HubSpot consultant gets you further than internal trial and error:

In all of these cases, it pays to talk before anything gets built.

Let’s talk

How I work

I ask more questions than I answer until I really understand your situation. Then you get a concrete recommendation with the reasoning behind it, not a list of options with no direction.

I push back on the brief when I think the question you’re asking isn’t the real one. And I’ll tell you when something doesn’t make sense before it gets built. That’s the difference between a HubSpot consultant and a vendor who simply implements requirements.

Consulting with no upgrade agenda

I’m not a HubSpot partner and I don’t sell licenses. So my recommendation is based on what you need, not on HubSpot’s plans.

Sometimes an upgrade is the right answer. Often the plan you already have is enough, as long as it’s set up properly and connected to your other tools.

Hi, I’m Lorenz.

I’ve worked with HubSpot every day for more than 6 years.

Before going independent, I helped two companies grow from around 15 to more than 60 employees within a few years, with annual revenue in the eight figures. In my last role I was responsible for all automation, the sales processes, the AI strategy, tracking, reporting and a lot more.

Today I help small and mid-sized businesses get similar results.

Frequently asked questions about HubSpot consulting

What’s the difference between a HubSpot consultant and an agency?

An agency is a team with fixed processes, standard packages and overhead. A consultant is one person who thinks it through with you, asks critical questions and works from your specific situation. With me, the person on the intro call is the person who does the work. No handoff to junior staff, no off-the-shelf solution that gets adjusted after the fact. You’ll find the detailed comparison in “HubSpot agency or freelancer?”.

How does HubSpot consulting work in practice?

We start with a free intro call where I get to understand your situation: what you have, what’s missing and what you want to achieve. Afterwards you get a concrete proposal with scope, timeline and price. Depending on the project, that can be a one-time consultation, an implementation project or an ongoing engagement.

Do you also offer strategic advice without implementation?

Yes. If you already have a team that handles implementation but needs strategic input, I can also work as an outside sounding board. For example for architecture reviews, a second opinion on your CRM design, or the question of whether HubSpot is the right tool for your use case at all.

Do you also do HubSpot audits?

Yes. A structured review shows what works in your setup, where data quality gets lost and where the biggest levers are. Small changes often make a big difference.

What company size are you the right HubSpot consultant for?

My focus is on B2B companies with 5 to 100 employees. That’s the size where HubSpot solves the most concrete problems and where an outside consultant makes the biggest difference. For very small teams of fewer than 5 people, there are often more affordable alternatives to outside consulting.

How much does HubSpot consulting cost?

For project-based consulting, I price by scope. For hourly consulting or reviews, we discuss the specific terms in the intro call. There’s no retainer model with monthly minimum hours for work you don’t need.
